Located on the southeastern part of the municipality, barangay Tintinan is completely surrounded by Bohol Sea. Tintinan is located south of barangay Cuya and has approximate distance of 7 nautical miles from the town center, Poblacion.
The small island of Tintinan was named after the Visayan word "TAGIMTIMAN" or "TIMTIMAN" because of the presence of many tagimtim which means oyster in the mangrove area and even in the shoreline. There were only a few families living in the barangay during days and their main livelihood is fishing. Tintinan was then, one of the sitios of barangay Juagdan. As years went by, the popultation continued to grow. And in 1969, Tintinan was recognized by the national government and the local government to be an independent barangay.
There are seven puroks or units in the barangay manned by the elected kagawads including the Punong Barangay or Barangay chairman.
